Did you know that there are several scholarships in Italy for foreign students? And more! There, all international students are entitled to the same financial assistance services as local students. This means that the scholarships that are awarded by the government and the universities of Italian universities (at national and regional level) to national students, can also be requested by students from other countries enrolled in some local institution. With that in mind, we’ve separated some of these bags for you to start preparing. Check:
Scholarships in Italy awarded by the government
Ministerio degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale (MAECI)
The Italian government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, grants scholarships to study in Italy to both foreign citizens and Italian citizens residing abroad. They are offered for master’s and doctoral programs; research projects under academic supervision; advanced courses in Italian language and culture; and professional training courses in Dance, Arts and Music.
The scholarship includes exemption from university tuition fees, health insurance and monthly allowance for expenses in the amount of 900 euros. But it is only possible to apply for three-, six- or nine-month scholarships. Understand how it works:
- Language and culture courses: 3 months;
- Research projects: 6 or 9 months;
- Professional training courses in Arts, Music and Dance: 6 or 9 months;
- Master’s and PhD: 6 or 0 months with possibility of renewal.
Note: The exemption from tuition fees does not apply for Italian language and culture courses.
Scholarships in Italy awarded by universities
University of Bologna
The University of Bologna offers scholarships to international students who wish to enroll in undergraduate and master’s degree programs. Each scholarship is awarded for the period of 1 academic year. The total amount is just over 11 thousand euros. In addition, those selected are still exempt from paying university fees.
Luigi Bocconi University
Bocconi offers merit scholarships to international students enrolled in any undergraduate or Master of Science program at the institution. The scholarship includes half of the annual tuition fees. That is, it is not as complete as others on this list, but it is still a beautiful of an incentive.
University of Pavia
The University of Pavia aims to promote international cooperation with developing countries. To this end, it offers scholarships to high-achieving academic students from these locations. Opportunities are for master’s programs taught in English. Each scholarship is worth about 8,<> euros.
University of Padua
The University of Padua funds low-income students, both Italian and foreign, who have good academic records. The scholarship is given partly in cash and partly in services, such as accommodation or meals in university canteens, for example. Students from all courses can apply.
Higher Normal School of Pisa
The Scuola Normale Superiore offers 78 fully funded PhD scholarships to Italian citizens and students from outside Italy. All students admitted to the doctoral program receive full financial support. That is: tuition, salary and maintenance aid for daily costs. This is, by the way, the best bag on this list.
Polytechnic of Milano
Every year, Politecnico di Milano offers a series of merit scholarships to international candidates admitted to Master of Science programs. Selected students pay only an administrative fee of around 200 euros. In addition, scholarships worth 5,10 to <>,<> euros per year can also be awarded, as well as exemption from the payment of tuition.
